Details on McFarlane Toys' SDCC 08 Halo 3 Exclusives and New Series 2 Packaging

"ODST at your service... as soon as you help me out of this."

McFarlane Toys announced their Halo 3 San Diego Comic-con 2008 exclusives back in April and have just released some new details on how to obtain the HellSpartan and Active Camouflage CQB Spartan figures. To get the figures you have to go to the McFarlane Toys booth (#2601) where you will obtain a card with a code. You then go online to Spawn.com and use the code to order yourself a set of the two figures for $30 (plus shipping). Remember, the two figures are packaged separately, but are only available together as a set. There is also only one card per convention-goer and one set per code, which should help eliminate any hording funny business. I'm wondering, though, just how many cards will actually be available. Will everyone who visits the booth be able to get a card or will there be a drawing to see who gets a card? Or will it be a first-come first-served basis where they run out of cards on the first day of the convention?

I do like that the figures won't actually be at the convention. It saves room in your bag(s) for other stuff, plus they won't get damaged from the unclean of geek-dom bumping into you. It also gives McFarlane Toys much less to have to haul around, which probably keeps the price lower at $30. I was expecting at least $40 for the set, but of course with shipping it probably will be. As long as you don't lose that valuable card with the code you'll get your sweet exclusives.

McFarlane Toys also debuted the new packaging for Halo 3 series 2. The new blister card packaging apparently shows off more of the figure, but is smaller to allow more figures on a store peg. From the photos, it looks like a cardboard back with the usual clear blister front. I don't see how it actually shows off more of the figure, but it would take up a little less space than the all clear plastic package. Go to Spawn.com to check out all the series 2 figures in the new packaging.
