My Thoughts

I didn’t think a good pinball game would be a difficult thing to make, even for a cell phone game. Other encounters with mobile pinball games soiled my desire to ever play one again. I downloaded the game expecting to have a mediocre time. After a few minutes though, it was easy to see that the Dragon Edge Pinball would be around longer than the others.

Dragon Edge has a top and bottom tier. On the bottom tier are a couple bumpers and the centerpiece monster that you must defeat in order to save the fairy. Once you defeat it another monster takes its place. There is a tree monster, a raven, a huge evil skull, fatty knight, and a Bigfoot / Sasquatch looking thing. The monsters are actually a little difficult to defeat because you have to hit the lower portion of the monsters right in the center, the only part of them that is vulnerable. Defeat the monsters and you have the chance to rescue the fairy trapped in a glowing ball. Once you free her, you get an extra ball and start the process again, but this time the monsters have increased in strength.

On the second tier you’ll find the usual bumpers, point thingers, and the powerful purple dragon. Shoot the ball into the dragon’s mouth and it becomes a fireball. If you can hit the monster on the bottom tier with the fireball, they’ll be slain in one hit. By hitting the ice that surrounds the monster, you can also turn the ball into an ice ball that gives you points just for bouncing off walls. Overall Dragon Edge is a good game with some pretty decent ball physics. Since pinball that isn’t on an actual machine is usually fairly simple, you may get sick of it after awhile, which is something that applies to all simulated pinball games.

There are no sounds in the game, but there is music that plays over and over. The music is a resounding, epic score that put me in the mood for a pinball adventure. It could make a pretty decent ring tone. If you’re looking for some good pinball action for downtime, Dragon Edge Pinball is your game.

Score: 7.5
