Games at E3 2004

There were very few surprises at this year's E3. Most of the games we saw we've known about and have been anticipating for some time. There were a ton of sequels, but some very cool original games. There were so many good games coming out later this year and the next for every system. The big three are really showing what they can do as nearly all the games we checked out looked and felt great. Choosing a system winner of the show would be next to impossible. The same goes for individual companies. Capcom, Namco, Square Enix, Nintendo, Ubisoft, SNK, Sony, and Microsoft all have awesome games that you will want to play.

Odama: A historically accurate depiction of pinball's influence on samurai warfare.

As I said, the trend of games at E3 seemed to be on sequels. Many of the games shown had a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 12 in the title. Or the games had a new subtitle, like Chaos, Deception, or Vengeance. There were a few original games that made an appearance through all the follow-ups. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was a side-scrolling DK game using bongos. A tactical samurai army pinball game called Odama looked very interesting. Playboy: The Mansion is certainly something new and the life-changing epic RPG Fable was playable. Overall though, this was a sequel year. It wasn't disappointing though, as many of the sequels looked great and were a lot of fun to play.

Deciding on a favorite game is very hard, but its something that should probably be done. We have made our individual picks for our favorite game of the show, as a voting system with only two voters would never get anywhere. Make sure you read through both of our game listings and read our opinions on the upcoming games. There are a few games missing from our lists, but there were so many that just covering these was a feat in itself. Heck, we're only two guys.
