GDC '12

Thanks to the ticket overlords, I was able to attend GDC this year, but only to the expo portion of the show, so I wasn't at any of the talks, presentations, or cool stuff GDC regulars go to. I was only there for a day, but was able to see some cool stuff. There were a lot more playable games and demo stations than GDC 2010, the previous year I was able to go, and was almost like a mini-E3 at times. For those that were looking for jobs in the industry, one of the big notable places in the career pavilion was that Konami was hiring for their new studio, which will be somewhere in California. Photos from my day at GDC '12 follow below, but for those that like a little classic gaming history, check out the photos from the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment area at GDC.

Welcome to GDC '12.

Konami definitely had the right "recruitment" posters up.

Konami was giving away T-Shirts with the Big Boss wants you image on them to those who applied.

Dragon Collection?

2K got recruiting help from Salvador, a Big Daddy, George Washington, and Elizabeth's cleavage.

The Indie games area was the happening' spot all day. This place was always crowded.

Resistance posters and Ratchet & Clank stickers at the Insomniac booth.

Resident Evil: Revelations and Tekken 3D Prime Edition were playable at GDC.

Metal gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D was also playable. Snake Eeeaateeeerrr!

Nintendo had Kid Icarus: Uprising in full force.

Ready at Dawn Studios.

Apparently, Valve is always hiring.

Call of Duty and Spyro, together at last.

The GDC Play area, where you could play lots more indie games.

If you think AMD's Dirt 3 gaming chair and three-screen setup is impressive...

...wait until you see AMD's five-screen setup. Wow.

It's a GDC banner!

The TV next to the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron didn't play footage from the game, at least when I was there.

A Centipede slot machine. You might need this in your life.

A stack of Darkness II Darkling statues for certain people.

This Darkling statue kept losing his left arm, but it's still awesome as hell.

A Halo 4 wall to get you excited.

The Game of Thrones throne was there for people to photo-op.

The huge Twilight Zone gambling device.

Girl fight is coming to PSN and XBLA. I don't think those two girls in the poster are about to fight, though.

Gah! At least it's wearing a loin cloth.

Xsolla's logo is suspiciously PlayStationy.

Adult Swim's sweet Robot Unicorn Attack arcade cabinet.
