Genesis Megatron Does What Nintendon't

Mega Drive Megatron is getting a special limited edition version as the Sega Genesis. Besides sporting Sega of America's refit, he'll also includes a Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge with the American art and a Genesis branded controller. The figure also has purple accents instead of red, which, for me, works better considering that Megatron is a Decepticon. With Optimus Prime being a PlayStation and not a Super Famicom, Sega and Megatron are still doing what Nintendon't.

Megatron does! You can't do this on Nintendo!

Genesis Megatron is limited to only 1,000 pieces and is exclusive to the Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. online store, so the only way for us in the U.S. to get him (those of us who would appreciate it the most) is through places like NCSX or a proxy. NCSX has it up for pre-order right now and it's scheduled to ship in February. I'm kind of glad I held off on buying Mega Drive Megatron now. While Mega Drive Megatron does sound cooler and has a better fit, the Genesis is my Sega 16-bit console.

Who knew Sonic was a Decepticon sympathizer.

I wonder if there will be a U.S. PlayStation edition of Optimus, though, because there isn't really much difference between the Japanese and American PlayStation like there was for the Mega Drive and Genesis.
