Weekly News Roundup: 12/12/2010

We were told this was pre Generation 1, not pre movie run-off.

  • Despite not making any sense, Hasbro is saying that Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers Prime are in the same continuity. This also includes the Exodus novel that I didn't know or care about. Unsurprisingly, many are pissed about this decision because fans were lead to believe that War for Cybertron was a Generation 1 game during its development. That, and Transformers Prime is so vastly different with the only commonality being Dark Energon. There better be some kind of history lesson in upcoming episodes in Prime to explain all the changes or this is just going to get more convoluted than it already is.

  • Neo Geo games are hitting PSN on Dec. 21st. Awesome! I'll certainly be getting Alpha Mission II.

  • Super Meat Boy for the PC is getting an actual boxed release with some extra meaty box art. It'll only be available through the Super Meat Boy site.

  • Guillermo Del Toro's first game project is Insane and will be out in 2013. I guess it's never to early to start building that hype machine.

  • Forza 3 is getting a DeLorean in an upcoming DLC pack. Oh wait, Gran Turismo 5 already has a DeLorean without paying for extra DLC. Better luck next time, Forza.

  • Konami's X-Men arcade game will l be out on Dec. 14th on PSN and Dec. 15th on XBLA for $9.99 or 800 space chickens.

  • The top five Bonne Mecha from North America and top five from Japan are all cool. Put them all in Mega Man Legends 3!

  • This Killzone 3 bundle is only being sent out to a few famous people. It includes a white PS3 with a Helghast etched on the surface, Killzone boots, and Move shoes. I like those boots.

  • The first trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon is essentially 2 and a half minute of nothing. It shows a Transformer near the end who may Unicron. That's my guess at least. He's the right color and has a moustache, but he's kind of small.

  • Neil Blomkamp's next sci-fi movie, Elysium, will re-team him with District 9 star Sharlto Copley.

  • Here's the first official Thor trailer. So will this have an Iron Man cameo like Incredible Hulk to help boost ticket sales?

  • NECA's 1/4 scale Classic Predator prototype is looking good. Plus it comes with three heads, unlike the smaller figures. I think fans would more prefer removable mask, but we'll take what we can get.

  • Customizer extraordinaire Jin Saotome made Mega Man and Protoman from McFarlane Toy's Halo Reach UNSC soldier figures.

Weekly News Roundup: 12/05/2010

You can't beat 8-inches of smiling meat. Or maybe you can.

  • Super Meat Boy hype is still running strong and now there will be a Meat Boy vinyl figure. This 8" Meat Boy is in regular and beat-up versions. Each figure is limited to 250 pieces and are $40 each. You can't beat 8-inches of smiling meat.

  • First 4 Figures next pricey statue is Wolf Link and Minda from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The statue is 1/4 scale and measures approximately 15" tall by 15.5" long. There is a regular version limited to 750 pieces for $329.99 and an exclusive version limited to 350 pieces where Minda's hair lights up for $349.99. Light-up hair is easily worth an extra $20.

  • The creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has made some cool Lego ships and robots in his spade time.

  • Nazi dinosaurs existed according to this authentic newsreel trailer for Dino D-Day. If this is as good as Jurassic: The Hunted then it's going to be awesome. I'm getting a Dino Riders vibe from the dinosaurs with guns on their back.

  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is getting two packs of downloadable characters: Kain and Raziel and Kane and Lynch. The final voices aren't in the videos yet, but it's pretty funny to head Raziel and Kane with Lara's voice.

  • There are ten more characters waiting to be announced for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Holy crap, that's a lot. Mike Haggar is one of them, though, right?

  • Catherine has some sexy box art. Expect the North American art to be completely different if it ever actually gets released over here.

  • Here's the debut trailer for Telltale's five-part Back to the Future game. It doesn't show much, but it's enough to get you excited.

  • Apparently there were four achievements in Ghostbusters that couldn't be unlocked. A patch was finally made available one and a half years later, except that two of those achievements still can't be unlocked. So will fans have to wait another coupe years? Speaking of Ghostbusters, the next game will be a top-down shooter. There won't be any voice work from the original cast, but players will get to drive the Ecto-4. There's an Ecto-4? The perspective switch worked awesomely for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, so maybe this will be good, too.

  • Marvel Pinball will be out on Xbox Live on December 8th and on PSN on December 14th.

  • Keiji Inafune started a new blog and wants to makes games again. Good Luck, Inafune.

  • PETA made a parody of Super Meat Boy called Super Tofu Boy. Meta Boy's developers responded in kind with a PETA joke and placed the malnourished Tofu Boy in the Steam version of Super Meat Boy.

  • PlayStation Home is getting a free-to-play space combat game called Novus Prime.

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution will get an Augmented Edition that includes an artbook, soundtrack, making-of DVD, and a motion graphic novel.

  • Apparently Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma will be in the arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV. Hopefully there's a FREE update with all these new characters for the console versions. They will, however, be in the 3DS version.

Movies / TV

  • The Uncharted movie doesn't sound anything like the Uncharted games. Now Nathan Drake and his dad are antiques dealers? Lame.
