The Monkey's News Box: 12/2/12
Goodbye, old friend.
Sadly, the long-running Nintendo Power is ending with #285, its
December 2012 issue. The cover is a direct homage to the cover of the very
first issue. It's awesome. I had a subscription for years upon years, but it
ran out long ago. I'll definitely have to pick up this issue. This is truly
the end of an era.
Cave is bringing their Xbox 360 shooters together into a
massive 7-disc collection. This includes DeathSmiles,
DeathSmiles IIX, Mushihimesama, Mushihimesama Futari,
Espgaluda II Black Label, DoDonPachi Resurrection, DoDonPachi
Resurrection Black Label, Muchi Muchi Pork, Pink Sweets,
Akai Katana, and Guwange. I doubt any of these will be region-free
if they weren't before.
First of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 will beat the crap out of
PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 5th. Unfortunately, the PS3 version will be PSN
download only. Well, better go get the Xbox 360 version if you still enjoy
physical copies games.
Bungie's upcoming game
Destiny was teased in Halo 3: ODST. Hey, I remember
seeing that poster. I didn't think much of it when I originally saw, just
thought it was a cool poster.
Nintendo shrunk the Wii into the ugly
Wii Mini. The $99 console is black with a red border and is exclusive to
Canada for the time being. It is not compatible with GameCube games, has no SD
card slot, and has no online capability. Bummer.
Do you want the most expensive Xenosaga merchandise ever? Volks has a
Xenosaga III Kos-Mos doll coming out that will retail for
¥11,400, which is over $1,200. Ridiculous! And that price doesn't even include
her dual G-Shot cannons; that's an extra ¥11,400! Great googly moogly! For the
hardest of the hardcore that can't afford that insanity, Volks is also
releasing a Momo at ¥61,950, which is only over $700. Ridiculous.
