Spinning bird kicks are no match for super awesome space robot dogs.

  • Famitsu has revealed Capcom's newest cross-franchise fighting game: Capcom Vs. Tatsunoko: Cross Generation of Heroes. Who is Tatsunoko you ask? They are responsible for such loved anime as Macross, Gatchaman, Speed Racer, and Samurai Pizza Cats. It's ridiculous, but just like Marvel Vs. Capcom, is so cool. Click the link for a bunch of screenshots.

  • There was solid Metal Gear news all week. The Metal Gear Solid series has always been very cinematic in its story-telling. CVG reports that MGS4 will push it even further with cut-scenes that are nearly 90-minutes long. Fortunately, you'll be able to pause the in-game full-length movies. Kotaku has a gallery of new MGS4 screenshots that may look familiar, yet are improved. Metal Gear Solid 4 may not be the last Metal Gear game, just the last that stars Solid Snake. Hideo Kojima is thinking about MGS5. So much for part 4 being the last MGS game he would do, which he also said about parts 1, 2, and 3.

  • CVG interviewed Tomonobu Itagaki who confirmed a few things about his games. Ninja Gaiden II is the last Ninja Gaiden game. Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a travesty he was not involved with. Dead or Alive 4 is the last DOA game. Itagaki will be taking a few months off before he begins work on a new super violent action game.

  • Xbox Live Arcade titles that have been underperforming, have been out at least six months, and have a meta-critic score of 65% or less will be eventually de-listed. There will be an announcement three months before a title will be gone forever.

  • GameStop is taking pre-orders for something called Gears of War with Maps, which could mean that Gears of War might be getting a re-releases that includes the downloadable content.

  • The Xbox LIVE Arcade size limit has been changed to 350MB with the price limit of games now at 1600 points.

Movies / TV

  • Capcom wants to do with games as Marvel has with comics in the movie biz. Devil May Cry is on tap next and Capcom is currently working out contracts for more movies. However, their future movie endeavors rely heavily on the success of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. If it does well expect to see a ton of Capcom properties on the big screen.

  • Scans of the Dragon Ball movie cast have popped up at the Dragon Ball movie site. These scans are the first pictures anyone has seen of Justin Chatwin as Goku, Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi, Emmy Rossum as Bulma, Joon Park as Yamcha, and Jamie Chung as Chi Chi. This movie is going to blow, but Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi might be entertaining.

  • Writer Robert Orci was interviewed by IGN and almost kind-of confirmed that Soundwave may be in Transformers 2. His exact words are "...hopefully we'll have the ability to do it." So don't get too excited just yet.

  • The first photos of the Tekken movie have appeared online; Cung Le as Marshall Law and a blurry image of Jonathan Foo as Jin Kazama. Cung Le can totally rock as a young Marshall Law.

Games

Japan has all the cool crossovers of robots, RPG, and fighting game characters, but next time they should make a crazy one where the fighting game characters have to fight Gundams and other giant robots.

  • Famitsu revealed the RPG Cross Edge for the PlayStation 3, which is a collaboration between Capcom, Namco Bandai, Nippon Ichi, Gust, and Idea Factory. The game has characters from Dark Stalkers, Disgaea, Ars Tonelico and others. Although it'll never make it over to the US, we can still hope everyone can work out those pesky licensing issues so that it will.

  • Javier Segovia has created a concept a re-designed NES called reNESED. Someone needs to start manufacturing these immediately.

Movies

  • JoBlo.com has an interview with Justin Marks, the scribe for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. The interview tells us why the first movie focuses on Chun Li and will reveal a little of Bison's secret origin, which will apparently be "canon." The movie will have a few "shout outs" to the Street Fighter II animated movie, one of them being the Chun Li Vs. Vega fight. Marks also explains why Gen is younger by hinting at a Gen Vs. Balrog fight.

  • It seems that the movie rights for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune have been optioned. The game is already like a movie, so the translation shouldn't be that hard, should it?

Games

How is Bison alive after Akuma killed him in Super Street Fighter II Turbo? The Capcom blog says that will be revealed when you beat the game.

  • Capcom released a load of Street Fighter IV screenshots showing the return of the big four bosses. Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison look tougher than ever and will take great joy in beating your face down once again.

  • A new Metal Gear Solid 4 RE-trailer shows the snow covered opening stage of Shadow Moses from the first Metal Gear Solid redone in full PS3 quality visuals. So it looks like MGS4 will have playable flashbacks, if not more, from the preceding games in the series.

  • Guitar Hero III is getting a Muse three-pack including "Supermassive Black Hole," "Stockholm Syndrome," and "Exo-Politics". Cool, now where the hell are the Muse songs for Rock Band?

  • Despite Microsoft's previous comments that the Xbox 360 would not get a Blu-ray player, Engadget found that a Chinese Economic News Daily reported that the company Pegatron won the contract to produce Xbox 360s with Blu-ray drives. so there could be a little Sony in the 360s.

  • The Wii version of Okami is missing the credits of those that created the original version. Apparently Capcom could not use the credits because it included the now-defunct Clover logo and Capcom did not have the original source to edit the logo out. Still, those staffers that worked so hard on of the most beautiful games around deserve their respect.

  • Nintendo fanboys went into a tizzy when Earthbound was spotted on the ESRB site for the Virtual Console.

  • Fatal Inertia was originally supposed to be a PS3 launch title, but was then moved to the Xbox 360. Now the game will finally hit the PS3 as the $30 downloadable Fatal Inertia EX.

  • Many feel that premium downloadable content has gotten out of hand for same games. 1up shows us that Ace Combat 6 is the worst offender, for now at least. If you buy all the extra planes and missions for AC6, you're looking at 9,750 points AKA $121.83, which does not include the price of the game.

Movies

  • Iron Man just came out this weekend, but you can expect Iron Man 2 in 2010. And be sure to stay after the credits.

  • After questionably going HD-DVD exclusive and canceling planned Blu-ray releases last year, Paramount has finally announced their return to Blu-ray.
