The Monkey's News Box: 11/10/13

  • What is Hadouken Cabs? Other than a 24-hour kick-ass minicab service with a ripped Ryu, we don't really know yet. It seems like a funny fan video at first, but at the end it looks like an official PlayStation 4 teaser. What does this mean? There's even an intentionally bad website for Hadouken Cabs, with an audio clip featuring Zangief when you click the Talk to the Operator. Something Street Fighter related is coming to PS4, at least.

  • Speaking of weird PlayStation videos, the PocketStation teaser with the Toro truck was for a PocketStation App on the Vita, pretty much what most of us expected. Hopefully this gets released on the North American Vita PSN Store. I would love to play those PocketStation games we missed out on.

TV / Movies

  • There are going to be four new Marvel shows starring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Each show will be thirteen episodes and they'll all come together in a Defenders mini-series. Once they get to The Defenders series, I wonder if it'll just be those four heroes, or if it'll include some of the original roster. Oddly, they'll all be on Netflix. I figured ABC would be the prime spot for Marvel shows.

The TV show Defenders are probably going to be a bit different than the original team.

  • The second RoboCop remake trailer shows a very different RoboCop. ED-209s patrolling the world? Lots of other robot cop-like guys? Will this be an okay remake?

  • NECA's Scalers wave 1 has expanded and will now have Alien, Predator, Gizmo, Gollum, Freddy, and Jason. I like the look of these little guys and could see them gaining some big popularity with their small size and cuteness. Plus, there are cords everywhere, so there's no shortage of places to put them.

Scalers could be the new versions of cell phone charms, because there are cords everywhere.

  • The awesome space cyborg Gigan is the next S.H. MonsterArts figure. Bluefin Tamashii Nations posted a photo of the figure, which is based on Gigan's 2004 appearance in Godzilla: Final Wars. It looks amazing and I would love to see some interchangeable arm weapons for it.

Gigan, the deadly space monster cyborg... from space.

  • Star Wars Black Series 3 will have a Stormtrooper, Dagobah Luke, and Prequel Obi-Wan. The Stormtrooper looks great, but I can see it being difficult to find since many collector's will be using him as an army builder, like they do with the Sandtrooper. Obi-Wan is fine, but I don't need him. And what the hell is going on with Luke's face? That's a terrible expression to have on the figure.

  • There's going to be a Chogokin Hello Kitty figure. The figure has shooting fists, can be "transformed" into flying, under water, and walking modes, and has Hello Kitty sitting inside piloting it. The mech even has angry eye mode. This

  • NECA is making little 2" figures called Scalers. These little guys can be attached to various cords. There will be figures of over 50 licenses including Aliens, Predator, Godzilla, Pacific Rim, Portal, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th.

  • McFarlane Toys' Rabbids toys are letting loose in Spring 2014. There will be figures, plush, and some sort of accessories. I wonder if these will warm the pegs like the other Rabbids figuines.

  • The Indiana Jones Figma looks old. I like that it includes accessories from the three original films, but the face looks like Crystal Skull Indy.

  • The PocketStation is coming back. Somehow. Here's this fake news video of reporters chasing after a Top Secret Toro truck, and spying on Toro. It's a weird video, but I wouldn't expect anything less form Japan. An official announcement regarding the PocketStation will be on Nov. 5th.

  • Apparently Titanfall is never hitting PS4. Well, actually it was to be exclusive to Xbox One for launch, but due to a revised deal or something, the first Titanfall will never be on PS4. So this will already be a franchise and the sequels could hit PS4. With all the hype surrounding this as being on the Xbox One, I didn't even realize that Titanfall will also be on the 360. Awesome, I actually will get to play it than. Titanfall also has a $250 Collector's Edition. That's half the price of an Xbox One! It includes a 19" statue with LEDs, a hardcover art book, and a poster. $250 is a ridiculous amount for a collector's edition, though. Man, I thought the Call of Duty Prestige Editions were bad enough at $200.

  • Call of Duty: Ghosts is going to have aliens in it in the upcoming Extinction mode. 1 - 4 players can fight Zerg-like aliens together. This looks like it could be cool and I hope this turns out better than the previous games' zombies mode. Also, Call of Duty: Ghosts is upscaled on the Xbox One, upped to 1080p from 720p. However, It runs at a native 1080p on PS4. Interesting.

  • The soul re-burns. Soul Calibur HD will be out on November 19th on PS3 and Xbox 360.

  • Japan's Limited Edition for Dark Souls 2 includes die-cast miniatures of weapons in the game. This is cooler than the statue we get in the U.S. I could put those weapons on some figures.

Just scroll down and...

  • It looks like Christopher McQuarrie is going to direct a Star Blazers movie. Considering how live-action anime movies don't get made in the U.S., we'll see if this actually happens.

  • The all-female Expendables movie is really going to be called The ExpendaBelles? Ugh, what a terrible name. They should change it if they want it to be taken at least as seriously as The Expendables.
