SDCC '12: ThunderCats Minimates and Polystone Statues

The ThunderCats marked their Minimate debut at SDCC this year and got loose on the ThunderTank and Cat's Lair polystone statues at the Action Figure Xpress booth. The debut pack of mini ThunderCats has Lion-O, Panthro, Mumm-Ra, Jaga, and Snarf. Alongside Series 1 were the first time we got to see Series 2 and 3... and all of them look utterly fantastic. The Series 2 pack will have Slithe, Jackalman, Monkian, Vultureman, and the Wolfrat. The Series 3 set will have Tygra, Cheetara, Wilykit, Wilykat, and Robear Bill. The ThunderCats Minimates are quickly becoming my favorite Minimates. The next set, or possibly the next two, might be available in time for New York Comic-Con in October. Also, according to the Minimates panel, Mumm-Ra the Ever Living will be in Series 4.

Minimate Panthro looks perfect in the ThunderTank.

The Cat's Lair statue is too small for Minimates, but still looks really cool.

The ThunderTank and Cat's Lair polystone statues also look great, although they are way pricier than the Minimates. Both the statues are very cool, but it's kind of amazing that the ThunderTank is nearly the perfect size for the Minimates. I almost want to get a ThunderTank just to sit Minimate Panthro in the driver seat. There are currently no plans for actual Minimates ThunderCats vehicles, but here's hoping that the lil' cats prove popular enough for Icon Heroes and Diamond Select to consider them.

Slithe, Jackalman, Monkian, Vultueman, and the Wolfrat make the second box set.

Charging into battle on top of the ThunderTank isn't safe, Lion-O, but you look cool.

Tygra, Cheetara, Wilykit, Wilykat, and Robear Bill make the third Minimates set.
