SDCC '13: PrototypeZ Studios

Right next to the Bluefin's display cases at their SDCC corner booth was another display case with some prototype Street Fighter statues. You usually don't see Street Fighter stuff in Bluefin's booth, so I don't know if these actually meant to be a part of Bluefin's booth or if that was the only spot PrototypeZ Studios could get on the con floor to show their stuff without having a booth of their own. If it's the latter, then I'm a little surprised this display case wasn't over at Capcom's booth. There was plenty of wall space at Capcom and I'm sure there were Street Fighter fans at SDCC who didn't even see these.

In the case were impressive 1/6 scale statues of Ryu, Ken, Sagat, and Blanka along with a statue of Mega Man. Created by sculptor Erick Sosa, the level of detail on these is pretty incredible. Just take a look at the insanely ripped muscles on Ryu. Each statue also includes transparent effect parts for added cool factor.

The way PrototypeZ statues work is you buy an actual prototype statue kit, assemble it, and paint it however you like. The unpainted statues you see in the photos is what you get. It's a unique way of getting a Street Fighter statue, and each statue can become a one-of-a-kind after it's all painted. The statues are very limited to only 150 of each and are individually numbered. The Street Fighter statue kits are all up on PrototypeZ store, but Mega Man isn't on there yet.

It will be interesting to see what other characters they'll be bringing out as kits. Maybe next year PrototypeZ will be big enough to have their own booth at SDCC instead of a lone display case.
