Sine Mora Plans to Reboot the Genre... with Difficulty Settings?

Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality's upcoming co-developed shooter Sine Mora has a new trailer showing the difference between normal and insane difficulty settings. The differences of on-screen bullets is very apparent in the trailer, with Insane having a ton more flying towards the pilots rickety yet futuristic ship. This is all fine and good, but it's the quote near the end of the trailer that I question, "Rebooting the genre." Sine Mora wants to be more accessible to players that normally don't play 2D-style shooters or who find them too difficult, but will showing the difference in difficulty settings really reboot the genre for the non-hardcore shmup fans? I doubt it. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm very much looking forward to Sine Mora. It has a gorgeous look, an interesting time manipulation system, battle-hardened anthropomorphic animal characters, a diesel-punk setting, and a promised "engrossing story." Plus, Grasshopper's involvement just makes it even more intriguing. However, right now I don't see how it will open up the shooter genre to new fans with difficulty settings. Maybe the next trailer will show how it'll reboot the genre. Also, that music is so soothing I almost don't want to shoot. Sine Mora will be out on Xbox Live soonish.
