Star Wars Blu-ray Art

Today was the big day for the Star Wars Blu-ray reveal and I'd be remiss in my nerdly duties if I didn't say something about it. The special features were not fully fleshed-out, but were outlined. I'm not going to list the outline of special features here since there are a bazillion other sites for that. The versions of the films in the Original Trilogy are the Special Editions, which yes, is disappointing, but not unexpected. I guess the art for the three sets had to be unlocked by Facebook. I didn't want to give out my Facebook info to some random company just for Blu-ray art, but we didn't have to wait because, well, it's Star Wars. The art for the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy are both amazing. It really harkens back to the classic movie poster art. The art for The Complete Saga set is bland and disappointing. I understand why it is, with Anakin and Luke both starting their adventures on the sands of Tatooine, but compared to the art of the other two sets, it's very lacking. All the special features are in The Complete Saga set, too, so if you want all the features, that's the one to get. Oh well, it's not like I'll be staring at the packaging for hours on end since it'll be just sitting on the shelf with the rest of my Blu-rays. (via Blu-ray.com)

Two epic pieces of packaging art and one that's very bland.
