Summary:

The X-Men use their mutant powers to push one another in a corner.

My Thoughts:

Many movies have a tie-in game and most times the game sucks something fierce. The excellent movie X-Men 2 received a horrendous mobile game in X-Men 2: Battle. The game tries to be a 2D fighter, but fails miserably.

For some reason the three available X-Men, Wolverine, Storm and Nightcrawler, want to fight each other before taking on Mystique and Magneto. Actually, Mystique doesn’t have a character model. She is represented with your chosen character, so you’re really just fighting yourself. All the movements can be performed by solely using the directional pad, which is good for making the game simple to play, but in turn the game is virtually unplayable. Each X-Man (or X-Woman) will impress you to no end with their incredible abilities of moving forward and punching. They can jump and do a “signature” move when their power bar is full, but all you really need to do is trap the other fighter in a corner and keep punching. Sometimes you don’t even have to get them in the corner, just punch and they’ll run right into it.

Between matches professor Xavier commands each of the X-Men of their goals,  which almost gives each one an individual story, but not really. None of it hardly matters when the game is so bad. I’m giving the game two points because at least the characters resemble the source material.

Score: 2.0
